TIARNY FAZIO LANDS A TREBLE FIRST DAY OUT.

Updated: Sep 25, 2023

Two new faces in an important side of harness racing in this neck of the woods. At Standardbred Association Queensland’s annual “Track To Hack” show last weekend, two youngsters teamed up to make their debut. Tiarny Fazio, who knew very little about horses a month ago, bar liking them, has responded to intensive training by Maxine Ellison of the StevMax Park operation at Lower Mount Walker. Presentation of a horse in the Show Ring requires a lot of skill and communication between horse and handler, as both must be seen correctly posed when stationary, and totally in “sync” when in motion. So, the first half of the equation for comparison is a student pilot about to go solo. The second half is really an untried aircraft, “Filly Thirteen”which has done the majority its test flights in a sulky. The program entails “four flights” across the day. The result is incredibly good. There are no incidents and the duo emerge from the ring with four ribbons, “Junior Led Mare” Reserve Champion Standardbred Mare”, “Led Standardbred in Race Condition” and Supreme Standardbred Exhibit” “Filly Thirteen is already the winner of three races from a handful of starts, and appears to have a bright future in the hands of Steve Towns.. Tiarny Fazio has started her career in “ringcraft” with a winning treble and a high grade second. On that performance, the harness bug is likely to bite hard, resulting in the “led” experience leading the handler to the sulky and the race track. Very promising indeed!

Don’t forget, MPA’s Annual General Meeting on Monday 09/10/23 at the Show Hall. 7:00pm. Those seeking election must be paid up “full” or “social” members and lodge nomination in writing by COB 25/09/23 Denis Smith 0408 352 478 .
