QSTA HELPING RQ TO GET THE GOOD WORD OUT THERE ON THE YOUNG TROTTERS.

Hi Brett

We had a bit of a canvas around, and pretty happy with the proposed schedule.

And that will put races on with 4 noms

If you could get the schedule ‘out there’ that would be great, as there just might be 1 or 2 young horses being trained up at the moment, where trainers might just have to wait up a bit with them.

Talking points that we hope there can be further discussions on are;

Distance of races, in particular the 2yo’s starting out

Prizemoney ‘split’ between Tuesdays and Fridays

Handicapping for races that get combined

With the distance, there seems to be a sway towards 2100m races for the young horses.

Feeling that the horses net to get used to racing, and settling, not just going hard from the jump, which seems to be what happens in the 1600m races.

Prizemoney levels would like to discuss further.

That’s not saying that $7700 each day isn’t pretty good.

It’s just when other Tuesdays races are $9000, and that Fridays also have $9k races for Claimers and some 2yo Pacers.

They all cost the same to train/race, so maybe there can be a $9000 option available each week, or at least fortnightly.

Trotting is growing more than pacing, prizemoney parity would see that growth be further sustained.

Handicapping of combined races needs to be discussed further.

To come up with a preferred model for you to use and participants to understand.

Eg. do 2yo get 30 or 40m on a 3yo?

Do the 3yo get 20 or 30m on older horses?

If all 3 are combined how far back are some of the older horses going to be?

Probably need to have some sort of forum on this, or at least put something together to start that discussion before May comes around.

Let’s make it happen if we can.

Any further discussion on this or other items, don’t hesitate to be in contact.

Thanks
