Form Analysis by Darren Clayton for Marburg, Sunday 4th February

RACE ONE:

HAPPY SNAP (3) fired out from gate 2 to set the tempo here two starts back and from the front was trying to see them off. Holding on to be best of the rest as ONYA BIKE BUDDY pulled away to a big win. She can get across them and might have found the conditions for a breakthrough. SPORTS MODE (2) eased from gate 5 to find the poles and chase shortcuts last time out when in the second half of the pack behind PUNTERS JEWEL. A Redcliffe runner-up three starts back, he can throw down a big challenge here. DIAMONDS ARE IDEAL (9) resumes from a spell after facing the starter twice in her 2YO campaign when out of the money in each. With one preparatory trial, she can feature. MELTON SCHLEGER (7) will move to the outside of the second line after making an error at Redcliffe on Thursday. He can be looking to chime in.

SELECTIONS: HAPPY SNAP (3), SPORTS MODE (2), DIAMONDS ARE IDEAL (9), MELTON SCHLEGER (7)SUGGESTED BET: HAPPY SNAP (3) to win

RACE TWO:

JUST ONE GOOD ONE (7) started from gate 1 over the AP mile last time out and from the trail was unable to go with them in the closing stages as MONTEREI DUKE claimed victory. This looks an open enough contest that he can trail through early and look to capitalise. CIRCLE LINE (9) loves Marburg and has eight previous victories here. Burrowing through to protect the poles last start over the AP mile, he was under 2m from the winner and is in this. LORD DENZEL (8) was trying to eat into the margin last start when grabbing the bronze behind BUSTN FEELZ GOOD. With the right trip he can chime in, his record on this deck is the query. DONT YOUBE NAUGHTY (1) has early hustle and has placed on this deck when leading them up previously. She may not be able to grip on for the major money but can for the minor.

SELECTIONS: JUST ONE GOOD ONE (7), LORD DENZEL (8), CIRCLE LINE (9), DONT YOUBE NAUGHTY (1)SUGGESTED BET: JUST ONE GOOD ONE (7) to win

RACE THREE:

TREACHEROUS ONE (5) has had three runs back from almost 20 months off the scene, tackling far stronger opposition in each of those appearances. The latest saw him at the tail as MISTER REACTOR claimed the prize and despite the wide gate, the drop in grade is significant. SKYLAR BREE (3) was returning from a let up last start when down the line behind tougher opposition as EAGLESPRIDE claimed the prize. Placed in three of her five on this deck, she has the gate to settle handy and look to make a challenge. ASTROPHILIA (6) has struggled to recapture the form that saw her claim successive wins early last season. With the chance of a soft trip in behind the speed, she is a place hope in this. TUFFY (1) broke maiden ranks five runs back and in his four runs since has beaten two runner’s home. The big difference here is an improved gate which might be enough to grab a minor.

SELECTIONS: TREACHEROUS ONE (5), SKYLAR BREE (3), ASTROPHILIA (6), TUFFY (1)SUGGESTED BET: TREACHEROUS ONE (5) to win

RACE FOUR:

COBBLER LANE (1) started from inside the second line last time out at Redcliffe when following the speed and finishing runner-up to CAPTAIN OH CAPTAIN. Approaching three years since he last tasted victory, he can protect the poles here and repel the raids. BUSTN FEELZ GOOD (8) found his race at Redcliffe last time out and sent hard in search of the lamp lighting duties, was able to take control and claim a 5m margin. The second line makes it a tricky ask here, but with the right trip, he can look to issue the challenge. DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN (7) loomed last start but did not have the same momentum as the winner which rattled down the outside paint. Only a half-head away, he can feature again. CHARLEVOIX (4) last tasted victory back in November of 2022, that win coming on this deck when finding the front. Unlikely to get the poles here, he has been going well enough to consider.

SELECTIONS: COBBLER LANE (1), BSUTN FEELZ GOOD (8), DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN (7), CHARLEVOIX (4)SUGGESTED BET: COBBLER LANE (1) to win

RACE FIVE:

This looks a good contest with a front line with a number of go forward types and many of the runners bringing tidy form lines. WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (1) should tighten from his last outing where he was resuming off a let up. With the gate to protect the inside, he will look to see it out. BEEF CITY STARZZZ (2) eased from gate 5 last start to find the poles and buried in the run was running up behind them in the stretch. A passing lane 3rd three runs back behind the flying PYRRHIC DANCER, he can settle handy enough to issue a challenge. BULLDOG BRAWLER (4) found ideal conditions at Redcliffe last start when third up from a spell. Pressing on to take control and see them off, he can be pressing forward to feature. WESTERN ACTION (8) has found some rhythm in recent weeks and lines up here with two wins from his past three starts. Descending on the over the AP mile last start, he can be considered.

SELECTIONS: WILLIEWA LIGHTNING (1), BEEF CITY STARZZZ (2), BULLDOG BRAWLER (4), WESTERN ACTION (8)SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX:

FRAME DRIVE (1) was a winner here three starts back when burrowing through from this same gate to keep them wide and then take them all the way. Nothing has gone right in the two runs since that win and the return to the ace can see him bounce back. TYPHOON TORQUE (8) has hit some form with wins at her past two starts, both when able to capitalise from gate 1 and take them all the way. The second line makes the chances a threepeat a tougher challenge. AUNTY FRANCES (3) charged over from gate 5 at Redcliffe two starts back and was able to slide in behind the leader which proved the winning move. She is right in the mix again. ALTANA BLUE (6) looked to have established a winning break at Redcliffe on Thursday, but he ran out of steam in the closing strides. He will be tucked away and probing.

SELECTIONS: FRAME DRIVE (1), TYPHOON TORQUE (8), AUNTY FRANCES (3), ALTANA BLUE (6)SUGGESTED BET: FRAME DRIVE (1) to win

RACE SEVEN:

ROYAL PRINCESS (1) found the pocket trail from gate 3 last start over the AP mile and was under 2m from the in-form winner PYRRHIC DANCER but still missed the money. Beaten by gate 6 the start prior in a second division mare’s qualifier, she has every chance to take this. DONNY JONES (3) has placed at his past two starts, the latest when buried in the run and hitting the line when a gap appeared to be 2m from the winner ROCKNROLL MAX. With early hustle, he can press forward to issue a challenge. FUNNILY ENOUGH (6) has his chances of completing a winning hat-trick dented by landing this gate. Scoring an effortless all the way win here two back, he will be searching for openings. STUDLEIGH MARK (7) tried to see them off at Redcliffe two starts back but had to settle for the silver as HEY MISTER TAYLOR arrived. A beaten fav last start, he can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: ROYAL PRINCESS (1), DONNY JONES (3), FUNNILY ENOUGH (6), STUDLEIGH MARK (7)SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-6-7

RACE EIGHT:

ROCKNROLL MAX (4) overcame the second line to score here four starts back when finishing best to claim a 4m margin. Only a neck from the winner HUGO GEORGE at his next outing, he was back in winning form with a tough effort last start and can look to repeat that here. ONE LAST ROLL (1) has been hitting some nice areas in recent weeks and was an all the way winner on The Triangle three starts back. Finding the step up to Sat night company a hurdle too high at his next start, his latest 3rd was a tough effort and he has the gate to throw it down. GLENLEDI COMMANDER (7) progressed to the Golden Guitar Final last time out and did not have the best of luck after being locked away. The second line stings his chances in this line up. BRIAN CHRISTOPHER (5) has no favours from the wide gate but he has been consistent in recent times, with a dead-heat win sandwiched between a pair of 2nds from his past three.

SELECTIONS: ROCKNROLL MAX (4), ONE LAST ROLL (1), GLENLEDI COMMANDER (7), BRIAN CHRISTOPHER (5)SUGGESTED BET: ROCKNROLL MAX (4) to win
